During casting only the peaks come in contact with the rod guides, effectively reducing line friction by more than 50%. The new Hi-Float version employs two, variable-density coatings in concert with the ridges to further reduce the line's specific gravity, greatly increasing buoyancy for higher floatation and easier mending and pick up.
